Getting Started

  1. Download the City National Bank App on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
  2. Sign in using your City National Online® user ID and password. If you are not currently enrolled in City National Online, press the Enroll option to complete the enrollment steps.
  3. Depending on your phone’s capabilities, you may be able to securely sign in using facial or fingerprint recognition.
  4. Accounts that appear in City National Online will automatically appear in the mobile app.
  5. Under the Settings tab, you have the ability to show, hide or change the list order of your accounts.
 

CNO Enrollment (from app view)

  1. Personal clients can enroll in City National Online using their account number, credit card number or check card number.
  2. The system will confirm your identity based on the information you provide and your information will be verified.
  3. Select a user ID and password that can be used in City National Online and the City National Bank App.
  4. Once your enrollment is approved, you can use the user ID and password to sign into City National Online or the City National Bank App.
 

Conveniently move money to and from accounts.

  1. From the Account Summary screen, select Move Money, then Make Account Transfers.
  2. Choose the funding account and the receiving account.
  3. Enter the amount of your transfer.
  4. If an external transfer, select a date (up to two years in advance) to send the transfer.
  5. Slide the control to the right to process your transfer.
 

Deposit checks.

  1. From the Account Summary screen, select Move Money, then Deposit Checks.
  2. Select Deposit To and choose the account.
  3. Enter the deposit amount and take pictures of the front and back. (Don't forget to sign!)
  4. The screen will return to show the front and back images of the check. 
  5. Slide the control to the right to deposit your check.
 

Send money with Zelle®

Quickly send and receive money to and from friends, family and others you trust.3, 4

  1. From the Account Summary screen, select Move Money then Use Zelle®.
  2. Choose Send, Request or Split.
  3. Select the recipient from your mobile device’s contact or enter a trusted recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile phone number.
  4. Add the amount you’d like to send.
  5. Review then select Send.
 

Easily set up wire transfers.

  1. From the Account Summary screen, select Move Money then Request a Wire Transfer.
  2. Select Wire Type and choose from Domestic (USD), International (USD) or International (foreign currency).
  3. Enter the details of the wire including the date, amount, sending account and recipient details.
  4. Review the Wire Request and Slide to Request Wire.
  5. Verify your identity with a text or email verification code then select Submit request.
 

Money Movement – Credit Card Payment (App)

  1. From the Account Summary, select the Credit Card Account you’d like to pay.
  2. Press the Pay button.
  3. Choose amount: Minimum Payment, Statement Balance, Current Balance or Other Amount. Your payment can not be more than the outstanding card balance.
  4. Choose the Pay From account. Eligible City National Bank accounts will automatically show. Select the +Add link at the top right to add an external bank account.
  5. Choose the date you would like the payment sent and slide the control to the right to submit your payment.
    • Payments submitted after 5:00 p.m. ET are processed on the next business day.
 

Money Movement - Bill Pay (App)

  1. From the Account Summary screen, select Move Money then Manage & Pay Bills.
  2. In the Pay tab, select the payee. (Clients can add and delete payees by selecting the icon in the top right.)
  3. Select the account that will fund the payment.
  4. Enter the amount of the payment.
  5. Select the date the payment should be made and slide the control to the right.

FAQs

If you have a City National Bank account and are enrolled in City National Online® (CNO), you can use the City National Bank App. If you haven’t enrolled in CNO, please enroll now.

You need to update the app because the old (“City National Mobile”) app and the new City National Bank App can’t be active simultaneously. Depending on your mobile device, either update to the new version or download the new app.

  • iPhone: The easiest way to get the new app is to download it here. Alternatively, on your iPhone, you may go to Settings, select [Your Name] and then iTunes & App Store. Then, under Automatic Downloads, toggle on App Updates. The new City National Bank App should then begin downloading automatically.
  • Android: Due to technical limitations, Android users will not be able to update automatically. Instead, delete the old City National Mobile app and download the new City National Bank App.

The app is compatible with both iOS 13 and up and Android 7 devices. 

Based on client needs and actual app usage, we prioritized features for the all-new experience. The following app features are no longer available:

  • SMS text messaging (we recommend using Quick View)
  • Cardless Cash
  • Kindle Store availability

Yes, after enrolling in Wire Requests through the City National Bank App1 or City National Online, you can submit domestic and international wire requests securely and quickly from your phone, computer or tablet. Online Wire Requests are subject to per transaction, daily and 10-day rolling limits.

City National Bank App:

  1. Sign into the City National Bank App.
  2. On the bottom row, select 'Move Money' then 'Wire Transfers'.
  3. Review and agree to the Online Wire Transfer Agreement and Disclosure.
    You should receive an email confirmation within approximately 1 business day.

City National Online:

  1. Sign in using your username and password.
  2. On the account summary screen, select 'Payments & Transfers' then 'Wire Transfer Request'.
  3. Review and agree to the Online Wire Transfer Agreement and Disclosure.
    You should receive an email confirmation within approximately 1 business day.

You can view all of your personal City National Bank accounts in one convenient place. If you also have Business Suite or Business Essentials, you can easily toggle to view your business account(s), too. 

Before accessing Business Suite Mobile, users must register for Business Suite or Business Essentials from a desktop computer. Once registered, download and install the City National Bank App on your mobile device. Select the Business tab on the login screen and enter your user ID and password.

Business Suite Mobile enables clients with Business Suite and Business Essentials to use their mobile device to conduct banking activities on the go. With Business Suite Mobile, you’re able to perform the following services, as applicable:

  • View account balances and transactions
  • Transfer funds between City National Bank accounts
  • Approve wires and ACH payments
  • Access Business Bill Pay
  • Place a stop on checks
  • Perform user administration
  • Decision positive pay exceptions
  • Create positive pay check issues
  • Deposit checks

Yes, use your City National Online username and password.

City National Bank’s secure sign-in helps protect you from online fraud. In some cases, you may be asked to further confirm your identity by correctly answering security questions. Our safeguards help to prevent unauthorized access to your accounts.
