City National Promotes Bruce Ford To Key Position in Nevada

LAS VEGAS– City National Bank today announced that Bruce Ford has been promoted to the position of regional banking manager for Core Banking in Nevada.

Ford, who is a senior vice president, will retain his current responsibility as City National’s business banking manager for Nevada and in addition will manage the company’s eight branches in the state.

John Wilcox, who now manages City National’s Nevada region and oversees its Core Banking business in San Diego, has announced plans to retire.

“We’re very grateful to John for his contributions to City National’s success,” said City National Bank President Christopher Warmuth. “We are fortunate that Bruce will lead our Nevada team going forward.  The economy here has improved significantly, and we are optimistic about the growth opportunities ahead.”

Ford, who has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, joined City National in 2009 after serving as regional president and chief operating officer for Community Bank of Nevada. During his tenure in banking, he has worked for Wells Fargo Bank, First Security Bank, Pioneer Citizens Bank, First Interstate Bank, and Nevada State Bank.

Ford graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance with an emphasis in investments. He is also a graduate of the School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia, and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. He was an instructor at the College of Southern Nevada where he taught commercial lending and general banking courses.

Ford is a past president of the Nevada Bankers Association and an active member of the UNLV Alumni Association.

Wilcox joined City National in 2009.  A resident of Las Vegas, he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is an honors graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle. Wilcox serves on the boards of directors of the United Way of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Events, the Financial Guidance Center and Touro University.

Joe McHugh, a senior vice president who joined City National in 2004 and currently leads all of the company’s branch offices in Orange County and California’s Inland Empire, will take over Wilcox’s responsibilities in San Diego.

City National merged with Royal Bank of Canada on November 2, 2015, and the Los Angeles-based bank continues to grow.  The company hired more than 100 new colleagues in 2015 and plans to add at least as many this year, eventually expanding into new communities.
