City National has been ranked as one of the top corporate donors in Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ). In 2022, the bank donated more than $5.7 million that benefited nearly 500 organizations in LA County. The bank came in at No. 11.
LABJ published the news in its special yearly report on philanthropy on Aug. 7. City National ranked higher than Capital Group, U.S. Bank and Southern California Gas Company.
"This recognition is for all of our colleagues who dedicate themselves to our communities every day," said CEO Kelly Coffey. "I'm honored to lead a company where the colleagues work so tirelessly to support organizations that make our communities healthier and more equitable for everyone."
Some of the nonprofit organizations City National and its colleagues support include: Habitat for Humanity, helping people build or improve the place they call home; the Downtown Women's Center, serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness; and Baby2Baby, providing children living in poverty with basic necessities.
"I had the privilege of volunteering alongside many of our colleagues at a Baby2Baby event last year to pack more than 6,000 pieces of clothing for children in need across the country," said Kelly. "Of course, that is just one example of how our colleagues show up for our communities every single day."
City National's support for Baby2Baby started in 2021. In that short period, the bank has sponsored several events, including the organization's annual gala and its Family2Family Adopt-a-Child Drive, which provided more than 50 children with holiday gifts.
In Northern California, the San Francisco Business Times also recently recognized City National on its annual list of Bay Area corporate donors for the second year in a row.
