2021 Economic and Investment Series, Featuring Russell Goldsmith and Austan Goolsbee
In a three-part virtual economic and investment series presented throughout 2021, City National Bank's thought leadership team is examining the lasting impact of the pandemic on the world economy.
The Feb. 23, 2021 event opens with an introduction from Tom Sagissor, president of RBC Wealth Management-U.S., and is hosted by City National Bank CEO Kelly Coffey. It features a conversation with City National Bank and RBC Wealth Management-U.S. Chairman Russell Goldsmith and Austan Goolsbee, Chairman, President's Council of Economic Advisers (2010-2011) and Professor of Economics at University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
They focus on equity markets, taxes, vaccine rollouts and what the Biden administration's policy roadmap could mean for the economy.
Goldsmith and Goolsbee also discuss how much government stimulus the country needs to get the economy back on track. Goolsbee recently wrote in The New York Times, "The United States is in grave danger of repeating a central error: reacting to the coronavirus instead of getting ahead of it."
Goldsmith and Goolsbee are followed by a panel discussion hosted by Garrett D'Alessandro, CEO of City National Rochdale, with Rochdale Chief Investment Officer Tom Galvin, Janet Engels, head of the US. portfolio advisory group at RBC Wealth Management, and Charles Luke, senior portfolio director at City National Rochdale.
The panel provides key updates on 2021 investment opportunities.
