City National Bank Expands in New York

Aug 03, 2020

NEW YORK – City National Bank, America’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, announced today that it has opened two additional banking offices in Manhattan. The new branches are opening in line with New York’s pandemic reopening guidance, and will follow best practices to ensure the safety of clients and City National colleagues.

“City National was founded by entrepreneurs for those with an entrepreneurial spirit more than 66 years ago, and we are pleased to be able to provide our clients, their businesses and their families with even more support during this time of unprecedented uncertainty,” said Kelly Coffey, chief executive officer of City National. “Expanding on the East Coast to better serve our clients has been a major priority for the bank, and with our new Manhattan branches, City National will be able to offer highly tailored financial solutions and personal service that can meet clients’ needs like never before.”

The bank’s latest offices are part of City National’s expansion plan helmed by Coffey, who became chief executive officer of the bank in February 2019.

“The New York community has embraced our deep expertise and unique brand of relationship banking, and we welcome the opportunity to support both new and existing clients from our new Manhattan branches,” said Scott Witter, executive vice president and head of Personal and Business Banking at City National. “This is such a critical time for so many businesses, and we look forward to helping professionals, entrepreneurs and their families navigate this uncertain environment.”

City National entered New York in 2002, primarily to serve entertainment and private banking clients, and has grown to serve entrepreneurs and their families, businesses, nonprofits and professional service firms throughout the region. On July 29, the bank opened its two newest Manhattan locations to serve the luxury residential and upscale commercial neighborhoods of NoMad and Flatiron – a 6,500-square-foot branch on Park Avenue South in NoMad and a 4,800-square-foot branch on 5th Avenue in Flatiron. The bank now has five offices in Manhattan. In addition, last year, City National opened its first full-service regional banking center on Long Island.
