City National Hires New Private Banking Team Lead And Seasoned Private Banker for its San Diego Region

SAN DIEGO, CA – City National Bank, California’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, today announced that it has hired Matthew Guillory, a seasoned and highly regarded private banking professional, as team lead for its Private Banking Division in San Diego.  The bank also announced that it has hired Aaron Malardino as a private banker on Guillory’s team. Both Guillory and Malardino join City National from Union Bank with over 20 years of combined industry experience.

In his new role as team lead, Guillory will be responsible for managing a highly skilled private banking team in San Diego to provide tailored solutions for high net-worth families, their related professional services firms and non-profits.  He and his colleagues will also work closely with other areas of the bank, including Personal and Business Banking’s six branches throughout San Diego, Commercial Banking and Real Estate Banking to deliver an unparalled experience to our clients.

Guillory and his team are located at City National’s San Diego Regional Center at 4275 Executive Square, Suite 750, in La Jolla.  He reports to David Ohanian, regional manager of the San Diego and Orange County Private Banking groups. Guillory will also work very closely with longtime banker and City National colleague Bernadette Bach, market manager for the San Diego Region.

Guillory joined City National from Union Bank where he served as a senior private banker and business development team lead for nearly five years.  Prior to Union Bank, Guillory worked for California Bank & Trust, Comerica Bank, and Downy Savings & Loan where he began his career as a personal banker in 2003.

Guillory is a graduate of San Diego State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, and an executive MBA from Pepperdine University.  Guillory is active in the community serving as Founder and Charter President of San Diego’s Mission Valley Sunset Rotary Club, and is a previous board member with Innovations Academy, K-8 school.  He is also past vice chair and current board member of the Jackie Robinson YMCA, and past board member of the San Diego Boys and Girls Club.

Malardino also joined City National from Union Bank where he served as a private banker since 2016.  Prior to Union Bank, he worked for Wells Fargo where he began his career as a personal banker and moved into Private Banking.  Previous to the banking industry, Malardino worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker.

Malardino attended San Diego State University where he studied Economics.  He also holds several securities licenses, including series 6, 7, 63, 65 and Life Insurance Licenses.  Like Guillory, Malardino is also very active in the community serving as a volunteer for a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Marin Center for Independent Living, the Boys and Girls Club and Junior Achievement.
