Steve Comer is executive vice president of the Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC) Office at City National Bank. He is also a member of the company’s Strategy & Planning committee and Executive Council. Steve heads the GRC Office and coordinates with City National’s regulators to ensure the company consistently meets its regulatory requirements and expectations.
Steve joined City National in March 2023 and has nearly 30 years of experience in financial services. He has spent most of his career working with OCC-designated Large Banks undergoing major regulatory transformation efforts. Most recently, he was the head of Wells Fargo’s Consent Program Office, which provided oversight of the bank’s business lines and enterprise functions. From 2015 to 2020, Steve was executive director and U.S. change management and operations transformation leader at Santander, where he led large-scale strategic and transformational initiatives for the company in the U.S. Prior to that, he served as managing director for PwC, focusing on transforming wealth management firms’ business and IT strategies and leading several complex global programs across the entire spectrum of wealth management.
Steve is active in his community and has a long history of supporting and volunteering for organizations such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Cradles to Crayons and Thompson Island Outward Bound.
Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College.
