Alison Burton is the Head of Human Resources for RBC U.S., including City National. She has over 20 years of service with RBC, where she held positions in HR, operations and the law group over the course of her career.
During her tenure in RBC’s law group, Alison led a global team of lawyers who provided advice to the enterprise on a wide variety of human rights and employment law-related issues; a team who managed commercial disputes for all RBC segments in Canada and the Caribbean; and a team of business lawyers supporting Wealth Management and Insurance.
Alison joined RBC HR in 2021, serving as senior vice president, Employee Relations, where she led all aspects of employee and labor relations globally and strengthened RBC’s culture and talent strategy following the historic acquisition of HSBC Canada. As the head of Employee Relations, Alison and her team reviewed concerns of misconduct, performance, whistleblowing, and discipline and ensured compliance with a wide array of employment obligations to and for RBC’s more than 97,000 workforce.
Alison graduated from Concordia University in Montreal. She attended law school at the University of Ottawa and practiced law at Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in Toronto. After being appointed to the head of human resources for the U.S., Alison relocated and is currently located in Los Angeles.
