Thom Miller is executive vice president of Marketing and Product Strategies, and is responsible for marketing, communications and corporate strategic development at City National. He also oversees the company’s financial products team and its digital channel.
Mr. Miller is a member of the company's Executive Committee and reports to Chief Executive Officer Russell Goldsmith.
During his more than 30 years in marketing and advertising, he has helped position some of the world’s premier brands for companies like Ford Motor Company, Procter & Gamble, Mattel, RJR Nabisco, The Pillsbury Company, Sunkist and Universal Studios. His extensive experience ranges from product branding and strategic development to national political marketing and executive-level corporate management.
Immediately prior to joining City National Bank, he was executive vice president and general manager of the Los Angeles office of Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide. Before joining FCB, he was president of Ketchum Advertising/New York and a member of the board of directors of Ketchum Communications, Inc. He also served as chairman of the New York Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
Mr. Miller earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University.
Active in community and civic affairs, Mr. Miller is chairman of the board of trustees at Otis College of Art and Design, and serves on the board of the Los Angeles Parks Foundation. He is immediate past president of the Los Angeles Conservancy and chairman emeritus of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
