  • January 07, 2021 CIO Galvin on Bloomberg: Inflation Would Be a Good Thing City National Rochdale Chief Investment Officer Tom Galvin was a guest on Bloomberg’s “The Close” program, where he discussed his economic outlook for 2021, stocks to avoid, and investment opportunities in small-cap stocks, post-pandemic beneficiaries and emerging markets Asia. “A little inflation would be a good thing,” said Galvin, noting that prospects for economic recovery are strong once the pandemic is behind us. “Once we get through any weakness caused by the pandemic and potential lockdowns, there will be an inventory rebuild cycle. There is pent-up demand, not just for travel and entertainment, but for goods… If inflation goes up, that will be a good signal of economic health.”

The timing is the aspect that’s hard to tell.”
