Linda Duncombe Featured in Variety’s 2021 L.A. Women’s Impact Report

City National Bank is pleased to announce that Linda Duncombe, executive vice president and chief marketing, product and digital officer, has been named to Variety’s annual L.A. Women’s Impact Report. This list celebrates many of the most innovative women in the entertainment industry. Duncombe was also named to the list in 2019 and 2020.

“City National has a long history of supporting the entertainment industry, and this recognition is a testament to that legacy,” said City National Bank CEO Kelly Coffey. “Linda is a truly inspiring leader within City National, the entertainment community and all the communities we serve. I am incredibly proud to see her receive this award.”

Duncombe, who oversees City National’s community giving, led the bank’s philanthropic drive to support the entertainment community, which has been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic. Last year, the bank nearly quadrupled its financial support of entertainment-industry-related nonprofit organizations, such as Broadway Cares, MusiCares, SAG-AFTRA, ACM Lifting Lives and the Actors Fund. This effort was part of a $13 million investment by City National in the communities it serves, the largest annual investment in the bank’s history.

Those philanthropic efforts have continued in 2021, with City National, known as “Bank to the Stars,” donating to causes such as the Saban Community Clinic, Project Angel Food, Baby2Baby and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Defy:Disaster program. Duncombe has also continued City National’s major sponsorships as the “Official Bank” of the Tony Awards, the Tribeca Film Festival and Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Café. In addition, Duncombe serves on the boards of several prominent organizations, including the Grammy Museum, located in downtown Los Angeles.

In addition to her philanthropic and sponsorship support of the industry, Variety also recognized Duncombe’s passion for diversity, equity and inclusion. “You have to look like your communities,” said Duncombe in Variety’s article, noting the importance of diversity within the organization in order to best serve clients.

In addition, she and the rest of City National’s leadership team are focused on making sure there’s a place for women at the bank, and that the bank fosters an environment for women to achieve a life-work balance. “More than 2 million women have left the workforce since the pandemic began,” Duncombe told Variety. This focus was underscored by City National’s recent Forbes magazine recognition as one of the Best Employers for Women 2021. At a time when millions of women have seen their careers disrupted during the pandemic, City National has worked hard to retain its female colleagues. Currently, about half of the bank’s total colleagues are female, and the bank has grown its female colleague base by nearly 2% since the pandemic began, counter to the nationwide trend.

Variety’s L.A. Women’s Impact Report is a part of its annual Power of Women event. This year’s honorees include legendary performer Rita Moreno, pop superstar Katy Perry and poet and activist Amanda Gorman.
