Bash will advise Department of Commerce on trade finance issues

LOS ANGELES – City National Bank, America’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, announced today that Steven J. Bash, senior vice president and manager of the bank’s International Banking and Trade Finance Division, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce Trade Finance Advisory Council (TFAC).

The TFAC is a nonpartisan group of experts who advise the Department of Commerce in identifying ways to grow access to finance for U.S. exporters, specifically small- and medium-sized enterprises. The council is made up of 20 private-sector individuals with experience in banking, trade and other trade finance organizations.

“I am honored to be advising the Department of Commerce and look forward to advocating for trade finance accessibility for U.S. exporters,” said Bash. “It is an important time for trade, with many uncertainties and potential changes in U.S. trade policy. The TFAC plays an important role helping entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the United States.”

Bash oversees City National’s trade finance, trade services, structured trade finance, risk mitigation and distribution, global correspondent banking and trade advisory services. He is a past president of the Bankers Association of Finance and Trade, an industry advocacy organization in Washington, D.C.
