City National Bank Hires Experienced Senior Wealth Planner to Serve Orange and San Diego Counties
LAS VEGAS, NV – City National Bank, Nevada’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, today announced that it has hired Samantha Virdin-Smetana as vice president and trust officer for its Trust and Estate Division in Nevada. Virdin-Smetana is a seasoned trust and estate professional with over 12 years of experience who join City National from RBC Trust Company of Delaware. She and her family recently relocated to Las Vegas to head up the bank’s local Trust and Estate group in Nevada.
With responsibilities for the entire state of Nevada, Virdin-Smetana will administer estate and personal trust accounts including large complex structures and family relationships. She will also serve as a trust expert for the private banking group and other City National lines of business, while providing trust administration services and assistance with the bank’s clients’ estate and family planning needs. Virdin-Smetana is the direct point of contact for any and all trust administration needs and issues involving bank clients.
Virdin-Smetana’s primary office is located at the bank’s Las Vegas Regional Center in Summerlin at 10801 West Charleston Blvd., Suite 250. With responsibilities for northern Nevada, she will work out of the Bank’s Reno Regional Center located at 5470 Kietzke Lane, Suite 100. She reports directly to Jason Niell, regional manager of Trust Administration.

Prior to joining City National, Virdin-Smetana served as new business manager for RBC Trust Company of Wilmington, Delaware. During her professional career she has also served as senior trust marketing officer for The Advisory Trust Company of Delaware, and Gift Trust Administrator and Grant Specialist for AST Capital Trust Company of Delaware, where she began her career in trust and estate work in 2005.
Virdin-Smetana is a graduate of Wilmington University, Delaware, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies. She also earned a Masters of Business Administration from American Public University Systems, Charles Town, West Virginia. Her professional certifications include; Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) from the American Bankers Association; and Trust and Estates Practitioner (TEP) from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Virdin-Smetana has been very active in the community volunteering with a number of nonprofit organizations including Special Olympics of Delaware and Cancer Research support charities.
