City National Bank has opened two more branches during the pandemic, reports the Los Angeles Business Journal, a move that other banks have shied away from as they’ve embraced closures.
The bank’s recent branch openings in downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica and increased investments in local communities are part of a larger growth spurt underway at the bank — L.A. County’s largest in terms of assets. City National has opened seven branches since the pandemic began. The bank has also recently expanded its Private Banking team to Philadelphia and New Jersey, and appointed Abel Montañez as EVP and head of Private Banking.
City National has been beefing up its community investment in charitable and civic programs as well. The bank gave $13.2 million during the pandemic — its biggest community contribution to date.
Linda Duncombe, City National’s EVP and chief marketing, product and digital officer, said giving local community investments could rise even more this year. “It continues to be core of what City National Bank stands for,” she said.
