City National Bank Opens Full-Service Regional Center in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – City National Bank, America’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, announced today that it is opening its first full-service regional banking center as part of the Los Angeles-based bank’s expansion into the nation’s capital.
Located near Dupont Circle at 2001 M St. NW, the new Washington, D.C. Regional Center will deliver City National’s relationship-focused private and business banking capabilities to entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and their families and to their small and mid-size businesses, as well as nonprofit organizations, law firms, accounting firms and more.
A seasoned team of more than a dozen City National financial experts will advise on all aspects of growing, protecting and transferring client wealth. This team includes Robin Burton, who manages the private banking team and led the company’s initial expansion into Washington D.C. one year ago; Chris Ragheb, who leads the commercial banking team; and Juan Jara, who leads personal and business banking. In addition, Chris Hartman recently joined the bank as a senior vice president to expand private banking.
It is the second new regional banking office for City National since the bank merged with Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in November 2015 and part of the growth strategy of RBC in the USA, which includes not only City National Bank but also RBC Wealth Management-U.S. and RBC Capital Markets in New York.

The regional center also will provide businesses with credit lines and term loans, equipment financing, international banking and foreign exchange, and a full suite of treasury management solutions. Robin L. Burton, who joined City National Bank in 2016, leads the D.C. private banking team as a senior vice president. Burton and her team have a specific focus on serving the needs of attorneys and their firms and provide their clients with the bank’s full range of comprehensive banking solutions and strategic wealth management advice to individuals, families, professional services firms, nonprofit organizations, foundations and endowments. Burton brings 30 years of financial services experience to City National. She earned her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Chris Hartman also joined City National Bank as a senior vice president and private banker, to partner with Robin Burton in the expansion of the private bank in Washington, D.C. He brings 22 years of diverse financial services experience and works with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth relationships by leveraging a team approach, bringing together specialists in investments, insurance, financial planning, credit and banking, and trust and estate planning strategies. He is active in the community by serving on the boards of the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership and the Alexandria Industrial Development Authority and is a member of the Alexandria City Public Schools Long Range Planning Committee.
Juan Jara will serve the new regional center as manager and senior vice president with personal and business banking. He has more than 20 years of banking experience and was most recently with EagleBank, where he was responsible for 21 retail branches in Washington, D.C., northern Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland. Active in the community, Jara is the treasurer of the board of directors of the United Planning Organization. He is also the vice chair of the board of directors of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors of GALA Hispanic Theater. Jara is also a member of Washington, D.C. Councilmember Brandon Todd’s Ward 4 Economic Development Advisory Council. The Washington Business Journal recognized Jara as a Minority Business Leader in 2016.
Christopher Ragheb is a senior vice president and the commercial banking market manager. With more than 25 years of commercial and corporate banking experience, he previously served as a senior vice president and senior corporate banker with BB&T serving the greater Washington, D.C. area. He is active in the community and currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees for St. James’ Children’s School in Potomac, Maryland.
