Q.

How much money does it take to open an account?

A.

No initial deposit is needed to open a cash account with City National Securities; however, to place a trade sufficient cash or securities are needed. City National Securities will automatically debit cash held in your brokerage or bank account on the settlement date.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: IDAs require prior funding. Only marketable securities purchased through City National Securities are reported in the online account summary for IDAs.

For IDAs, please note that your Trust Officer can answer any questions you may have concerning payroll contributions to your IDA account.

Q.

What type of securities may I trade online?

A.

Using online brokerage services, you may trade stocks, mutual funds and options. For fixed-income orders and unit investment trusts, please speak directly with an investment representative at (800) 280-1464.

For Option Trading, City National Securities only allows the purchase of options and the writing of covered options. You must have an approved Option Agreement on file prior to option trading.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: There are restrictions in the types of securities that can be traded online in retirement accounts. If approved by your Plan Sponsor, IDAs may be allowed to trade options through online services. For fixed-income securities, please contact an investment representative at (800) 280-1464. Your Trust Officer can assist you with unique assets. Please note that for IDAs only marketable securities purchased through City National Securities will be reported in your online account summary.

Q.

Where will I find a list of mutual funds available for trading?

A.

Within Online Brokerage, at the bottom of each page within the Account Info and Account Services areas, you can click on "Mutual Fund Lists." This will take you to a page that includes two lists. One lists mutual funds without a transaction fee. The second list displays all other available funds. Click on the list you wish to review.

From the cnb.com Home page, click Online Services in the main menu, then either Personal or Business, then Managing Investments. Under Online Brokerage, you'll see a link to "Access the Mutual Funds List." Click the link to access the lists of mutual funds with and without transaction fees.

Please note that the lists are in an Excel file, and therefore you will need the Microsoft Excel program to access the information.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: Mutual funds presented on the "All Other Available Funds" list may reflect load fees. Please check with your City National Securities representative prior to investing.

Q.

How will I be notified of trade executions?

A.

Immediately after a trade is executed online, you will receive a message on your computer screen. At the same time, the activity and position sections for your account are updated automatically.

Within one day of your trade execution, a confirmation notice will be mailed to you through the regular U.S. mail.

Q.

When does my account balance update to reflect my account activity?

A.

Cash account balances are updated online immediately. However, margin account availability ("buying power") is updated online, at the end of each day. For questions regarding margin availability, please contact an Investment Representative at (800) 280-1464.

Q.

Are Money Market Funds available for automatic placement of my uninvested or "free" cash?

A.

On the account application, for automatic investment of any cash balance and to pay for securities, you will be given a choice of using your City National Bank checking or savings account or one of three money market funds. This information is located in the section labeled, "Investment Account Cash Balance Options." Before investing in any money market fund, you should read the prospectus carefully. You may obtain a prospectus by calling (800) 280-1464.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: Your Plan Sponsor selects the default money market vehicle.

Q.

What types of orders may I place online? Are there extra fees for limit orders?

A.

City National Securities accepts all common types of orders online at no additional charge, including:

Market Orders
Limit Orders
Stop Orders
Good-'Til-Cancelled (GTC) Orders
All or None (AON) Orders

Q.

How do I transfer securities and cash balances to my account?

A.

Please speak to a customer service representative at (800) 280-1464 to request a form to transfer securities or funds from another brokerage (this is referred to as an "ACAT transfer"). The form must be completed, signed and sent back to City National Securities for processing, which requires approximately two (2) weeks from the time we receive your paperwork.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: Any questions you may have concerning the movement of funds to your IDA account can be answered by contacting City National Retirement Services at (800) 660-6282.

Q.

What fees are associated with Online Brokerage services?

A.

There are no monthly or annual service charges or fees. Commissions are assessed when you execute a trade.

For example, you will be charged a $19.95 commission for each online stock trade, up to 5,000 shares. An additional commission of $0.01 per share will affect all trades that exceed 5,000 shares.

For options trading, a $19.95 commission will be charged per trade, plus a maximum $2 per contract. Commissions for mutual funds vary.

There are more than 1,000 transaction-free mutual funds; otherwise, a commission of $15.00 per trade applies.

For a complete listing, click "Mutual Fund & Investment Research" at the bottom of the site. In the left navigation bar under the heading "Mutual Funds" will be the names of two lists that are available. One lists mutual funds without a transaction fee. The second list displays all other available funds. Click on the list you wish to review. You can also access the lists from the Online Services page of cnb.com . On the Home page of cnb.com, click "Online Services." Simply place the mouse over the Brokerage button and an extended menu will appear. Click "No Transaction Fee Funds" or "Transaction Fee Funds." Please note that the information is contained on an Excel spreadsheet and therefore you will need an Excel program to access the information.

For complete details on commissions, please contact an Investment Representative at (800) 280-1464.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: Mutual funds presented on the "All Other Available Funds" list may reflect load fees. Please check with your City National Securities Representative prior to investing. Additional fees may apply to maintain your account. Please contact your Trust Officer at (800) 660-6282 for details.

Q.

If I can't get my computer to place a trade, can I call in to place a trade with a City National Securities representative and be charged at the Online Brokerage commission rate?

A.

If the City National Securities Online Brokerage service is not available ("the system is down"), you may call (800) 280-1464 and place your trade with a City National Securities representative to be charged at the online commission rate. If your computer system is not functioning (or you are physically away from your computer), a City National Securities representative can place your trade for you, but broker-assisted rates will apply.

At any time, you may choose to contact a City National Securities representative to place your trade; however, broker-assisted rates will apply.

Q.

What is the difference between a cash account and a margin account? How does a margin account work?

A.

With a cash account you must have adequate funds in your account prior to placing an order to purchase securities. A margin account allows you to purchase stocks by borrowing against the securities you already hold. Margin is the amount you borrow (and must repay) when you use the credit to purchase a stock. Margin accounts are extended by National Financial Services LLC ("NFS") and require approval from NFS. An approved Margin Agreement must be on file prior to trading on margin. Call a Service Representative at (800) 280-1464 to obtain a Margin Agreement.

For Individually Directed Accounts (IDAs) through City National Retirement Services: Margin Accounts, or the borrowing of money to buy securities, is generally prohibited for Retirement Accounts.

Q.

Will I have access to real-time quotations?

A.

Quotes obtained using the Quick Quote button will be delayed quotes. Clients trading equities through CNS will have access to real-time quotes obtained under the "Research & Market Data" tab.

A real-time quote appears only when you are executing an online trade and only happens immediately before you send your trade order.

Q.

May I "Day-Trade" in my account?

A.

City National Securities does not allow the intentional buying and selling of a stock or option during the same business day (Day-Trading). Accounts will be monitored and restricted if there is Day-Trading activity.

Q.
