Thom Miller joined City National in 2000 executive vice president, Marketing, and is responsible for marketing, communications and corporate strategic development at the bank. He is a member of the company’s Executive Committee and reports to Chief Executive Officer Russell Goldsmith.
During his more than 30 years in marketing and advertising, he has helped position some of the world’s premier brands for companies like Ford Motor Company, Procter & Gamble, Mattel, RJR Nabisco, The Pillsbury Company, Sunkist and Universal Studios. His extensive experience ranges from product branding and strategic development to national political marketing and executive-level corporate management.
Immediately prior to joining City National Bank, he was executive vice president and general manager of the Los Angeles office of Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide. Before joining FCB, he was president of Ketchum Advertising/New York and a member of the board of directors of Ketchum Communications, Inc. He also served as chairman of the New York Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
Mr. Miller earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University.
Active in community and civic affairs, he is president-elect of the Los Angeles Conservancy and also serves on the boards of the California State Library Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. He is immediate past chairman and a member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles Library Foundation board.
