Mike Cahill is executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of City National Bank and City National Corporation, where he oversees the Corporation's Legal & Compliance Division. He is executive sponsor and chair of the bank’s Compliance Committee, and also is a member of the bank's Executive Committee, Disclosure Committee, Risk Council, Benefits Committee, Strategic Planning Advisory Committee, and Senior Operations Risk Committee, among others.

Mr. Cahill joined City National in June 2001 with broad experience in financial services, securities, mergers & acquisitions, commercial transactions, risk management, technology, capital formation and strategic planning, among other areas. From 1997 through 2001, he served as CEO of various subsidiaries of Avista Corporation, located in Washington state.

Before that, Mr. Cahill worked at First Interstate Bancorp for 13 years, where he served as executive vice president and group general counsel responsible for legal matters related to various international, capital markets, merger & acquisition, as well as company-wide litigation, bankruptcy and problem-loan activities. He also served as executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer for First Interstate Bank's Texas affiliate in Houston, and previously spent four years in private law practice in Los Angeles.

Mr. Cahill is a member of the California and Washington state bar associations, and is active in supporting fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and serves on their Los Angeles chapter board. He also serves on the board of directors of the California Bankers Association. Mr. Cahill is a frequent speaker at seminars on the subjects of banking, securities laws, corporate governance, compliance and related topics.
